"Good-bye" is not an ending
when you know that people care,
For miles may come between you,
but warm thoughts are always there...

"Good-bye" is not an ending
but a different start for you,
A time for making brand-new friends
and seeing dreams come true...

"Good-bye" is not an ending,
for you'll find along life's way
Within your heart you'll always have
a part of yesterday.

When can this come to Canada?

The New York Times: One Number That Will Ring All Your Phones

Here are some of the highlight features which I'd like to have on my phone:

"CUSTOMIZE GREETINGS - Control freaks, rejoice. You can actually record a different voice mail greeting for each person in your address book: “Hi, sugarcheeks” for your sweetheart; “Can’t take your call right now, I’m out looking for a better job” for your mother.
Finally, you can tell GrandCentral to answer certain people’s calls with the classic three-tone “The number you have dialed is no longer in service” message. Telestalkers, bill collectors and ex-lovers come to mind. Never has technology been so deliciously evil." SWEET!

"SWITCH LINES - Anytime during a call, you can press the * key to make all of your phones ring again, so that you can pick up on a different phone in midconversation, unbeknownst to the person on the other end. For example, if you’re heading out the door, you can switch a landline call to your cellphone — or as you arrive home, a cell call to a landline, in order to save airtime minutes. "

"QUICK CHANGES - With a quick click at GrandCentral.com, you can direct all calls to voice mail when you don’t want to be disturbed; direct all calls to a new, temporary number (like a hotel); or prevent your home line from ringing during work hours."

"WEB BUTTONS - You can install a “call me” button on your Web site — a great, free way to field calls from your eBay, MySpace or dating-service Web page without actually posting your phone number."

"RINGBACK MUSIC - This bizarre little feature is evidently popular with young cellphone users in Europe, but is still rare in the United States. It lets you replace the ringing sounds the caller hears while waiting for you to answer (what Lily Tomlin would describe as “one ringy-dingy, two ringy-dingys”) with music—in GrandCentral’s case, any MP3 file of your choice. "
I am not sure about this feature. In China, almost everyone who has a cellphone is using this feature on their phone. And I found it quite annoying.

Anyway, my point is when I can get to play with all these on my phone in Canada?!

China Businesscast: Tom Doctoroff of JWT

Danwei:
Tom Doctoroff is CEO of JWT Greater China and author of the book Billions: Selling to the New Chinese Consumer. In this interview Doctoroff talks about the "Confucian conflict" that affects how modern Chinese spend their money. Doctoroff argues that while Chinese are driven by their egos, they do not display genuine individualism in the way Westerners do.
Doctoroff summarizes his point of view like this: My overall point is that culture is relative and we Westerners have to open our eyes to differing fundamental motivations. Cultures do evolve. The process however is slow and the evolutionary path is always consistent with deeply held beliefs (i.e., cultural "imperatives"). There are human truths and cultural truths. Both need to be approached with an open mind.

Let's keep blowing soap bubbles, to reach the sky

I found the lost song
In my heart
Though someday
We'll all disappear
Our feeling accumulate
Like white powered snow
It was a tiny revolution
You touched my shoulder
I held you and loved you
That was everything
Even borders seem to dissolve
As the snow flowers blossom
A soap bubble flew by
It burst and disappeared
But let's keep blowing soap bubbles
To reach the sky
Leaping over a thousand nights
We breathe together
Now the world is endless
And the future is bright

go to the cities of origin and document holidays global wise

"go to the cities of origin and document major local holidays global wise"

This is the idea came to my mind while I was driving and listening to radio talking about St. Patrick's Day this morning. It will be a at least one year long project not including the time for initial research and preparation for the travel. The final delivery of this project can either be a documentary or a book or both. With the rapid development of technology and extending definition of media, very likely it will be displayed through some so far unknown medium.

What you read above can be merely a morning dream talk, fictional, or it can also be a draft of an actual proposal for a future project. The thin line sitting between them is vague. Nobody is able to foretell the future. Yet we went to the moon in 1969 and today, in 2007, I am still sitting in this dusty and crap corner on the earth. Yes, future is unpredictable. However.

Dream brings you forward. One more dream, one more possibility.

Happy International Women's Day! In light of the morning show on the radio, Canada do celebrate it. I thought it was a chinese made up holiday and so called International. Gladly, I was wrong. Happy holiday, ladies. In 21st Century, the definition of lady is broad.

growing in pains

The past two weeks have been overwhelming to me, definitely not in a good way.
Every day I learn a hard lesson from reality. I don't know what this life is shaping me into. That's something which is out of my control.
Growing in pains. My heart is not old enough to be that strong. Never try to hold on someone, everyone lives as an individual in this society. Why I always have to be the left behind one. Just because I am in a situation which moving on is one of my options. This is simply not fair.
Carefree days are over. The weather forecast was right. A storm is coming.
